Eric F. Zinn
Eric, owner of E.Z. Performance Firearms, was raised around firearms and gunsmithing. Son of an avid hunter and sportsman, he helped his father build muzzle loading rifles and pistols as well as tuning and refinishing center fire firearms. Eric continued working on his family, friends and his own firearms after leaving home. It was when he started customizing 1911s for his friends that his hobby went to the next level.
In August 1994, one of his friends whose pistol he had already done a considerable amount of work to asked him to do something that he was not comfortable doing without proper training/experience. His friend then took his gun to “Kennedy Kustom Guns” when the owner asked who had done the work on his pistol he told him about Eric. His friend then relayed a message to Eric from the owner of “Kennedy Kustom Guns” that if he would like a job as an apprentice, he was already hired.
Eric apprenticed at “Kennedy Kustom Guns” for six years learning everything he could from the five different gunsmiths he had the opportunity to work with, including Paul Wysocki (who he still works with). 1911s are still his passion being the only style firearm that he uses whether it’s for daily carry, USPSA/IPSC competition, or Three-Gun competition.
Eric is a USPSA/IPSC “Master Class” competitor with numerous class wins at international level competitions. He is a NROI certified range officer and is working toward obtaining his Chief Range Officer certification.
Currently Eric is attending college for a degree in Tool and Die making, as well as being in an apprenticeship program for Tool and Die, since 2000. His goal is to obtain the knowledge and skills to be able to fabricate any and every part of a firearm. Eric has extensive training and knowledge of the functioning and operation of modern firearms. His real world experience, formal firearms training, and competition.
